Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, the students, staff and governors of Stone Bay School are looking to appoint a Headteacher who is passionate about special education and committed to enabling every one of our pupils to reach their full potential.

Stone Bay School is situated in the seaside town of Broadstairs, Kent and specialises in providing both day and residential education for pupils aged 4 to 19 years who are diagnosed with ASD and severe and complex learning needs.

We have a wonderful, caring culture and a high staff to student ratio to support our pupils. We are committed to building communications between our young people, parents, and staff and to developing each child as an individual to “get it right for every student” so they can reach their full potential.

Over the last few years, the school has been transformed under the leadership of the current Headteacher with the commitment of the whole staff team.  We are looking for a new Headteacher who has the same vision, drive and passion, who will continue to build on the school’s success. Our new Headteacher will join a school with excellent foundations and ambitious plans for the future.

The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership and have the determination to ensure that our pupils are given the best possible educational opportunities to enable them to achieve their full potential.

Candidates should have:

  • Experience as a Headteacher or senior leader in a SEN school and embrace the opportunities and challenges of leading an inclusive learning community.
  • Drive, vision and resilience to lead, inspire and motivate all school staff to successfully achieve the aims of the School Development Plan
  • Commitment to achieve high standards and expectations to ensure that every child receives the best education possible
  • Desire to embed values of teamwork, respect and kindness, within and beyond the school

With values at the heart of your leadership, you will have responsibility to the whole school community, being accountable to a wide range of groups, including pupils, parents, carers, staff and governors.

Stone Bay School is a brilliant place to work and to learn. We have fantastic pupils and wonderful staff, and if you would like to be part of our continuing journey the Governing Board look forward to hearing from you.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students. You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
