St Ethelbert's Catholic Primary School

Local Area

The beautiful town of Ramsgate on the Isle of Thanet in South East Kent, has a wealth of character and history. It has the country’s only Royal Harbour, a stunning Marina, that when lit up at night during the summer evenings, makes you believe you could be anywhere in the world. There are a plethora of restaurants, cafes and quirky independent shops around the town and amongst the arches on the quayside. History is everywhere you look from the grade II listed properties, to the historic St Augustine’s Abbey and Pugin’s home the Grange, the wartime tunnels that stretch under the whole town and the Italianate greenhouse in King George VI park.

There is no doubt that the main attraction to Ramsgate is its coastline and beautiful sandy beaches. This provides lots of opportunities for outdoor pursuits and exercise, including walking routes, cycling routes, canoeing and geocaching, not forgetting some world class golf courses.

“Ramsgate’s at the Land’s End of the south-east; the getaway place with great scenery and the great outdoors. (And it’s just down the line from London.)”- Nicholas Crane, Presenter of the BBC Coast series

There is real value for money for property in Ramsgate with many people relocating and opening businesses in the area, with the added fast rail link it is only 1 hour 15 minutes to London St Pancras.

Here you will find a greater sense of community and friendly people who will always say hello, come and Live by the Sea but Stay Connected.
