East Farleigh Primary School

About the School

Please read a letter from our Chair of Governors.

East Farleigh Primary School is a single class intake school with a current roll of 203 which is also very popular; normally receiving over 100 applicants for a single intake every year.  The school building was rebuilt in 1956 after a devastating fire which is why our school logo is the phoenix. We had our last Ofsted inspection in 2015 where we were rated as Good with minimal recommendations towards a future Outstanding. The school has had a very positive recent Ofsted preparation review.

Our vision is that our children leave us with:

  1. High self-esteem and high personal expectations
  2. Tolerance and respect for others and high behavioural expectations
  3. An enquiring and discriminating mind and a desire for knowledge
  4. A sense of responsibility and the skills to make wise choices and accept the consequences of their choices
  5. High academic achievement and a complement of core skills – linguistic, mathematical, scientific, creative, physical and social
  6. A set of spiritual and moral values including honesty, integrity and good manners

At East Farleigh Primary we recognise the diversity of talents that our students have, and help them to reach their full potential by supporting them in as many ways as possible.  We work to develop our children in the following ways and also to empower them to foster these skills:

We pride ourselves on providing our children with a balanced education, learning is constantly under development and outdoor learning is a priority. Children have the opportunity to learn how to grow plants and care for animals, such as our chickens and guinea pigs in the school garden. We have other quality onsite facilities such as a bespoke library room and IT suite as well as up to date touch screen technology in the class rooms and ample and varied sports equipment and play options.

We make good use of our PE funding to promote a wide variety of activities for the children. We are fortunate to have access to the beautiful local countryside which is used to enhance learning and instil a love of the great outdoors in our children. The hardworking staff team have also developed a range of fun after school clubs for children to take part in, ranging from sports to cooking to art. To view our club timetable please click here.

As well as developing children holistically we place high importance on achieving academic excellence, and have recently invested in new reading and maths programmes to support the latest curriculum developments. To further the learning experience, the teachers of East Farleigh Primary employ the latest teaching techniques; such as the learning journeys and Growth Mindset, as well as using the tapestry system in Early Years which has proved to be very popular with parents and carers too.  We encourage independent learning from Key Stage 1 upwards and have a very successful approach for teaching our children to read through phonics.  ICT is a positive learning tool that we try to include in our teaching as much as possible.. You can find interactive whiteboards in every classroom in addition to the dedicated ICT suite to support learning for all classes.
