About the School

Ashdown Primary School was opened in September 2015 after Whitehill Infants and Herne Juniors amalgamated.  We are one school over two sites (one infant, one junior).  We have an Executive Head who leads the whole school. 

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of the Executive Head, the two Heads of School (infant and junior) and the Business Manager.  There are also four Phase Leaders (EYFS, Y1 and 2, Y3 and 4, Y5 and 6) who, together with the SLT, make up the Senior Management Team.

The school has had a number of staffing changes over the past year and is looking forward to having a stable team to progress the school.

The Junior Site itself is a relatively modern building and houses classrooms, IT suite, swimming pool, PPA room, hall, field with separate offices for both Head of School and Executive Head.

The children are great; we have 437 children on roll.  We have low numbers of SEND and Pupil Premium children, but we feel our children are capable of much more.  We run a Children’s University to help raise aspirations.

Our parents are very supportive with an active parents’ forum and a hugely successful PTA (Friends of Ashdown Primary School).  Parental involvement at our Junior Site is something the new Head of School could improve on.
