Chilham St Mary’s C of E Primary School is located in the middle of the beautiful village of Chilham. Chilham is situated between Canterbury and Ashford in an idyllic countryside location but with the convenience and amenities of large towns and cities nearby.

At the heart of the village is the village square and is considered one of the best preserved medieval settings in South-East England. The majority of the buildings here date back to the 15th Century and as a result a large amount of the buildings are listed. Due to the historic buildings located in the village Chilham has been host to numerous film and television crews over the years with programmes set in and around  Chilham Castle including The BBC’s 2009 adaption of the Jane Austen novel Emma and Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Chilham village has a train station with direct trains to Canterbury and to Ashford International located only a 10 minute walk from the school. From Ashford International you can access high speed rail services to London and the Eurostar enabling you to access the continent easily. The village is also conveniently located on the A28, giving drivers an easy and quick route to Canterbury and Ashford.

There is a great community feel in the village with lots of events each week including yoga, dance and pilates classes. The village has its own football and tennis clubs and a new sports pavilion. The village benefits from two local pubs, a tea room and a village shop and Post office. There are several walks you can take from the village including along the picturesque North Downs Way, Pilgrims Way or the Stour Valley Walk.
