The Governing Body is seeking to recruit a successor to the Executive Headteacher with the experience, strategic leadership and determination to build on the many strengths the Federation has to offer.

The Federation is served by a single Governing Body and is led by the Executive Headteacher supported by a Head of School in each school, a dedicated Leadership Team and talented staff complement.

Ifield School and King’s Farm Primary School are located next door to each other and the decision to Federate was driven by a wish to drive rapid and sustainable school improvement at King’s Farm School.

The schools are located on a spacious site within a socially disadvantaged area of Gravesend.  The Thames Gateway is developing rapidly, with new housing and a major increase in its population

The Governing Body wishes to create a new provision to enhance the sporting, artistic and cultural development of pupils and our community.  Outline plans for a Sports, Arts and Cultural Centre (iSparc) were approved in June 2014.  The creative curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to develop their musical talents and performing arts is a strength of the Federation.  Pupils take part in community events in Kent and London including “Shakespeare for Schools”.

The Cedar Federation continues to build upon and draw together the strengths of each school to develop collaborative working arrangements.  Pupils and staff have benefitted from the Federation in terms of improved pupil outcomes and further opportunities for staff development.  Opportunities for joint working are constantly emerging, with each school utilising the assets of the Federation to enhance teaching and learning.

The Governing Body continues to support the Federation's ambitious plans to enhance and develop the existing educational provision.  In March 2017, Governors agreed the development of a Primary Satellite Provision at King’s Farm School for pupils with ASD.  Building on the success of the Post 19 pilot project, which has prospered over the last three years, work continues to create a unique Post 19 provision with its own legal entity to serve North Kent.
