Dunton Green Primary School is a one-form village school which is at the heart of the community with lovely children and an enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff.

We are proud to be known as a warm, friendly school where we work together to put the children at the centre of every decision that we make. Good manners are rewarded and achievement, both in and out of the classroom, is celebrated. We strongly believe in giving children of all abilities the best possible opportunities to succeed through providing an excellent education and by nurturing a love of learning in all.

Our aim is for the children to become thoughtful and responsible young people who respect themselves, those around them and their environment. 

Following a disappointing Ofsted rating of Requires Improvement in early 2016, the governors and staff have been working tirelessly to implement a rigorous overhaul of many aspects of the school. We are working with a local outstanding school and developing many new initiatives. We have already seen huge improvements in behaviour and teaching and we are working on further ambitious plans which we believe will help us achieve a solid Good rating at Ofsted’s next inspection.

Staff are busy improving the learning environments both inside and outside of the classrooms, reading corners are being created within each classroom to encourage all children to develop a love of books and we are introducing a new maths scheme to enhance our maths lessons. KCC is helping us improve our buildings.

We have just recruited a manager to run our developing breakfast club and after-school clubs. We offer a wide range of after-school clubs which encourage the pupils’ sense of achievement in extra-curricular activities. Children are encouraged to participate in a range of sports.  There is an active choir and we are extending the other music opportunities.

Our dedicated and supportive PTA organise an extensive range of events throughout the year which not only provide fun family days and trips for the pupils but also fund exciting resourcing such as laptops and Kindles which enhance the children’s learning experience.

This is an exciting time to join Dunton Green Primary School as we continue our journey to become a Good school and beyond.
