Eastchurch CEP School

About The School

Please read a letter from the Chair of Governors and a letter from the Director of Education. Eastchurch School is a split site school that provides a secure, caring, Christian environment in which our children can feel successful and happy and able to achieve high standards. Currently Eastchurch is a two form entry primary school that takes up to 480 children from the ages of 3 to 11 years.

There is a purpose built nursery on one site that caters for 52 part time children split between the morning and the afternoon. We value each child and their contribution to the schools ethos and take an active role in community life - working in partnership with parents. All our children have a right to be healthy, safe, to enjoy and achieve, to make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being.

As a Church of England controlled school we share a caring, Christian ethos and provide a broad and balanced curriculum in order to educate the whole child. Our broad aim is to ensure that everyone, is enabled to reach their highest possible standard of achievement - academically, socially, morally and spiritually.

ECO-School Extraordinaire!

Eastchurch Primary School was the first Eco-School in Kent, in 1998, and has flown the Green Flag every year since. Pupils and staff follow an ‘Eco-Code’ which is integral to the life of our school and includes litter reduction, waste re-cycling, wise water use, wildlife conservation, energy efficiency - and producing our own renewable energy.

Solar PV panels were installed at our All Saints Site in 2005, solar hot water panels in 2006, another PV array in 2008 and finally a 6kW wind turbine in 2009. Our new St. Clement Site had solar PV panels installed as an integral part of its construction in 2011.

E Team!

Each site has it's own dedicated E-team. The children in the E-team ensure that everyone in the school is saving energy, by having their lights off when they are not being used and closing doors to keep in the heat. The class that saves the most energy receives a certificate at the end of the week. The E-team also monitor how much energy is being used, reading the electricity, gas and water meters and also finding out how much energy has been generated from our solar panels and wind turbine. Our older children use this data to produce reports for governors and set targets for future energy use.
