Ditton CE Junior School

About The School

Please read a letter from our Chair of Governors and the Diocese.

Our school is a warm, friendly, happy and welcoming place. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment with a confident, inquisitive and independent community of learners, who are more than able to shape the future and promote the Christian values of Responsibility, Respect Empathy and Courage.

Our staff are a dedicated team who have a passion for our children’s success and wellbeing. They work well with parents and other outside agencies, to nurture the children and provide good learning opportunities.  We offer an After School club thus providing the wrap around care our working families rely on.

The children move on from Ditton CE Junior school to a range of secondary schools within the area including Kent Grammar schools and local academies. Our children have the opportunity to engage with these schools in KS2 and to access a variety of new learning opportunities.

The school enjoys a continued collaboration with Ditton Infant school, and we would see this as only gathering speed in the future.

There is a wide variety of well attended before and after school clubs too, including art, maths, Korfball, football, athletics, netball, and also a choir club.

As a Church of England School we seek to keep the core Christian values at the heart of everything we do. We strive to enable the whole school community to be a place where caring relationships are valued and where every member of our school community is encouraged to reach their full potential in a happy, safe and caring environment.

Our mission statement is Friendship, Trust, Forgiveness & Compassion. This embraces our Christian ethos which contains our hope for each child to develop a joy of lifelong personal learning, and to shine out as the school celebrates all its achievements.  We celebrate children’s achievements in different ways; there is a celebration assembly every Friday which all parents are welcome to attend, along with a particular favourite of the children which is lunch or afternoon tea with the Headteacher.

Our parish Church is St Peters and is a magnificent country church within walking distance of the school and is used regularly by the school for festivals, celebrations, and special services. The Rector is a regular visitor for collective worship.

The PTA is very active and regularly arranges activities such as the Summer Fair, discos and last year our very first firework night which proved hugely successful. These events all help to raise funds and involve the parents as well as the children in the life of the school.

With the support of the dedicated staff, governors, parents and most importantly the enthusiasm of the children we have exciting times ahead and are looking for a new Headteacher to help us on our journey

Our last OFSTED Inspection of January 2015 judged us as a 'good' school and commented 'the school works hard to meet the needs of all pupils'.
