Local Area

Bethersden is a traditional Kentish village situated in the heart of the Kent countryside. The nearest town is the historic Cinque Port of Tenterden with it’s picturesque High Street, including many independent shops. The town of Ashford is just 6 miles away with excellent transport links to London and the near continent. Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells are also readily accessible .Bethersden is also within easy reach of a number of local secondary schools, with a regular bus service through the centre of the village.

You can get involved with the small but very friendly community which has a range of sports and healthy lifestyle facilities. It has an excellent tennis club providing club nights and coaching for all ages and a reinvigorated cricket club determined to provide sporting competition! The village has two thriving pubs, post office and stores, a hairdresser and an artisan butcher.  The village hall provides a centre for many local events with the annual pantomime not to be missed!

Bethersden sets great store by its traditions but understands the need to change, adapt and embrace future growth and new ideas.  It is blessed with a proactive and forward thinking parish council, currently engaged in writing the village plan, looking at the future of Bethersden over the next 15 years.  It has a number of active and inclusive societies and clubs within the community with the school at the centre of village life.
