Penshurst CEP School

About The School

Please read a letter from the Chair of Governors and the Diocese of Rochester

We are a small village church school, at the heart of our community set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have just over 100 pupils taught in four classes: Reception, Years 1&2, Years 3&4 and Years 5&6.

The school plays a very active role in the wider community and provides a wide range of opportunities for children to develop their talents and interests, whether this be during Forest School, in the many sporting competitions we take part in, the annual school poetry competition or the Tunbridge Wells Speech & Drama Festival.

Our staff team is experienced, friendly and mutually supportive, which we believe is a real strength of our school. Our Christian values are important to us and are at the heart of all we strive to achieve.

Our Vision – Faith in our future

At Penshurst school, we seek to develop each child’s unique personality. Driven by an ethos based on the Christian values and nurtured through individual pastoral care, children are inspired to strive for excellence and realise their true potential. Our ultimate aim is for them to become reflective life-long learners, able to embrace new challenges confidently, in an ever changing world.

Our Christian values are important to us and are at the heart of all we strive to achieve:

  • Friendship, Forgiveness, and Thankfulness. Jesus shows us how to be a good friend. He taught us to forgive other people as God has forgiven us and to thank God for all the good things that we have.
  • Respect and Humility is showing the right attitude towards others and putting other people’s needs before our own.  Jesus respected everyone he met no matter who they were and he showed us how to treat others as more important than ‘me’.
  • Equality and Justice is treating others as we would want to be treated and acting out of concern for what is right.  Jesus treated everybody the same and he always did what was right even if it was sometimes difficult for him.
  • Determination and Hope is putting our faith in God to help us persevere when we struggle.  Jesus taught us never to give up and to put our hope in him.
