The Craylands School

Local Area

Crayland’s Primary School is located in the town of Swanscombe in north-west Kent.  Swanscombe has direct rail links to London Charing Cross and London St. Pancras and both stations can be reached within an hour.  The M2 and M25 motorways are a short distance away and direct road links into London are also nearby.  Ebbsfleet International station is located just outside the town and has direct rail links with a host of European destinations.

Bluewater shopping centre, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, is less than ten minutes away by car and boasts the largest variety of shops in the area.  Swanscombe and neighbouring towns Greenhithe and Gravesend contain a range of shops and restaurants.

The town is home to ‘Swanscombe Heritage Park’ which contains the site of a 400,000 year old Palaeolithic burial ground from which human remains and artefacts were excavated and now reside in London’s Natural History Museum.  Other local historical sites include Cobham Hall, a beautiful 16th century mansion and Gad’s Hill Place, one of Charles Dickens’ homes.

The surrounding area also contains a number of unmissable places for a great day out.  Shorne Woods Country Park is a beautiful area with extensive walking routes through stunning scenery which epitomises Kent’s unique countryside.  Gravesend Cyclopark, on the outskirts of the town, offers a range of fitness activities including cycling courses, a skate park and a large children’s play area.  It also has high quality gym facilities, as well as tennis courts and football pitches.
