Offham is a charming Kentish village surrounded by hop gardens, orchards and is famous for its quintain on the green and for its locally quarried ragstone; in fact wherever you look this famous Kentish stone is in evidence. The name Offa was the name of a Saxon landowner and Ham is a village or homestead. It goes right back to 823 when Aethelwulf was king of Kent and this would have been an ancient Anglo-Saxon settlement. 

The village consists of the school, parish church, picturesque village green, local pub and Spadework garden centre & nursery, which hosts a monthly local farmer’s market. The village sits at the foot of the North Downs with many splendid views but is also close to the vibrant market town of West Malling with easy access to the M20 and M26 motorways. 

West Malling is approximately 1 mile way and with its regular rail links to London and Maidstone is a popular location. The town itself still hosts many local events, a monthly farmers market and has a wide variety of historical buildings, individual shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, which attract visitors from far afield. 

Maidstone is the county town of Kent and lies 32 miles (51 km) south-east of London. The River Medway runs through the centre of the town, linking it with Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Maidstone is also ranked within the top five towns for shopping in the South East.  It boasts the riverside Lockmeadow Centre with a multiplex cinema plus an array of shops from the two main shopping centres, Fremlin Walk and The Mall to independent retailers located in the Royal Star Arcade and Union Street.

The bustling town is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, living up to Kent’s iconic label as The Garden of England. The North Downs is an excellent location for walking and the river is used for many water sports including rowing.
