About the School

Letter from the Chair of Governors

HF Competition

Riverside Primary School is a small, friendly school in the Medway Local Authority area of Kent, catering for children from foundation stage at age 3, right up to the transition to secondary school at age 11.  There is a provision for the visually impaired and also a 12 place provision for autistic children.

Set within extensive and secure grounds, the school has recently been refurbished and provides a modern learning environment for the children.

The vast playground has different zones for each age group and has a covered area so it can be used for playtime and outdoor lessons at any time of year.  We promote a healthy eating ethos throughout the school and encourage the children to get involved in the wider community by supporting charities, sponsored events and links with the local secondary schools.

Our school is a centre of expertise and resources for visually impaired children; from the school decor and disabled access to the special teaching assistants who work with the visually impaired children, we ensure that they receive an inclusive education and are able to fully access the day to day life of the school.

In 2010, we saw the addition of a Sure Start Children's Centre which tailors their services to the needs of the local community and receives very positive feedback from parents and carers.  In 2012 Ofsted commented on the calm atmosphere that is apparent in lessons and how well the children work together.  There is a strong working relationship between our knowledgeable and dedicated staff and the parents and carers which is integral to the running of the school.
