The Trust Board are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer with the responsibility of Executive Headteacher to lead The Whinless Down Academy Trust.

Our Trust currently has three primary schools all based in Dover and in very close proximity to each other. The three schools work closely together collaborating to provide innovative, inclusive and inspirational opportunities for our children and the staff who work there. Our trust ethos is to provide local schools for local children run by local people whilst being trusted by our local communities to make our schools the schools of choice for their children. 

Above all, we want our children, staff and communities to be happy, to feel the excitement and empowerment that education provides and the opportunities that working and learning together brings. This is achieved through a culture of mutual trust and researched-informed practice to inform and support our strategic vision.

Motivating all our school leaders to provide an outstanding quality of education within their individual school will be a key role for the CEO/Executive Headteacher. This will require utilising a full range of professional and personal skills closely aligned to both the Trust’s and Individual schools’ values. To sustain our outward facing approach to development, to strengthen and inspire our own practice, working with other trust leaders, Headteachers and educationalists would be essential to ensure, innovative, practice informed, forward thinking school improvement.

We need you to be an imaginative, courageous and aspirational leader wanting the very best for every child that attends a Whinless Down Academy Trust School, setting what might appear to be challenging and out of reach targets, breaking the glass ceiling of expectations. We want you to have an ambitious drive to grow our trust that is well placed to welcome and support any like-minded school that is fully dedicated to the concept that ‘Learning Changes Lives’.

You will undertake the role of accounting officer for the trust having a crucial role in monitoring the financial systems and risk management procedures. This will require working closely with the Trust Business Manager (CFO) and a comprehensive working knowledge of the Academy Trust Handbook to ensure that the functions of the Trust are highly effective.

You will also be expected to have a strong understanding of safeguarding in order to ensure schools leaders uphold their responsibility to maintain a culture of safeguarding for all pupils.
