About the Willesborough Schools

The Federation of the two Willesborough schools took place in January 2019. Under the leadership of the governing body and the Executive Headteacher (EHT) and four Assistant Headteachers (AHT) across the two schools, we have embedded strong links ensuring the two schools work closely together. The subject leaders work together and help to deliver a smoother and effective transition programme for each year group but especially Year 2 to Year 3. There is now a natural progression for children to move from the Infant school to the Junior school.

Both the schools have a Good Ofsted rating, the latest assessment being for the Infant School in September 2022.

We are passionate about educating the whole child and ensure that we provide pupils with a wide range of experiences and opportunities. Our school staff work hard to ensure our curriculum is broad, balanced and inclusive. We firmly believe that each child is unique and celebrate this at every opportunity. We acknowledge that children progress in different ways and at different rates and believe all areas of learning are equally important and interconnected. This is shown with our Ethos, Vision and shared values. Wonder-Inspire-Shine, Leadership, Aspiration, Determination, Responsibility, Respect and Shaping Minds, Shaping our World.

At the Willesborough schools, we actively encourage staff to develop professionally and support all CPD opportunities. Teaching & learning is consistently of high quality across both schools including SEND and disadvantaged pupils.

Our subject leads from both schools share planning time out of class each week, they work together to strengthen the curriculum across all subjects. SENCOs also work closely together along with the pastoral team across both schools to support families. The Willesborough schools have strong links with the local secondary schools.

There is a very success programme (Kittens) for children joining the Infant school in the Reception year prior to them joining. The infant school also has a Nurture programme to support children who have difficulty in accessing mainstream classes.

The Willesborough schools actively encourage the children to participate in sports events, they are strongly represented in local sports and competitions. The Willesborough schools are also active hosts throughout the community. The schools provide many after school clubs encouraging inclusivity with all children offered a place at these clubs, including curling & Boccia, sewing, handbells and choir to name a few.

The schools offer various opportunities for our children to take part in daily school life including School Council. We also offer opportunities for children to adopt a responsible role. These include Mini Midday Supervisors, Digital Leaders, Office Assistants, Site Managers and Mentors to other year groups.
