The Governors of The Wyvern School are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic leader to build on our school’s current strengths and achievements.  The successful candidate will have a passion for the school, children and wider community and the ability to create and share a vision to lead our school and community successfully into the future.

Following the retirement of the Headteacher in December 2022 The Governors are looking to appoint a permanent Headteacher.

The Wyvern School is a modern build, all age (PSCN) special school catering for 350 pupils with moderate, severe, profound, and complex needs, including autism. We have a fifteen-acre site as well as three satellite provisions within mainstream schools.

The Governors are seeking a leader who:

Has highly developed people skills and previous experience in leading teams effectively through innovative, nurturing, and collaborative leadership.
• Is approachable and actively listens with the desire to embed values of teamwork, respect, and kindness, within and beyond the school.
Is knowledgeable about, well-experienced and committed to safeguarding in a SEND environment.
Is optimistic and passionate about maximising the potential and outcomes for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring that teachers and other staff have consistently high expectations of what each pupil can achieve and ensuring that pupils flourish.
Has a thorough knowledge and deep understanding of all aspects of curriculum development, teaching standards and pupil progress in a special needs setting.
Has a drive to strengthen and build collaborative networks both within the school community and externally.
