About The School

Crockham Hill CE Primary School is set in idyllic surroundings on the south facing Greensand Ridge with extensive views out over the Weald of Kent. Together with the local pub, a modern Village Hall and the adjoining Church of Holy Trinity, the school is at the heart of a vibrant local community which offers a wide range of social groupings and activities.

The school is a popular one and is significantly oversubscribed. We are currently considering ways in which we could expand provision and a further exciting opportunity exists for any new Headteacher to help identify and implement appropriate, and potentially considerable change.

Our pupils are fun, enthusiastic, articulate and hard working.  Their needs are well met by our experienced teaching staff who are always looking for ways to improve their practice.  Their fully inclusive approach makes Crockham Hill CE Primary School a welcoming and stimulating environment where everyone can fulfil our vision to give our children the best possible start to the rest of their lives (see Vision and Values). Last academic year the School has renewed its technology strategy to support our vision and new curriculum. We have invested in iPads across the school and these are already having much success in inspiring learning. They are accessible to all, versatile and provide up to date technology with capacity to serve future needs. This has proved invaluable. During this current lockdown, the School has continued offering daily structured lessons in school and also (with the help of these iPads) at home with Zoom and Seesaw.

Our school provides a happy place where learning is fun but purposeful. We enjoy considerable support from families, friends and the local community: FROCHS (Friends of Crockham Hill School), the PTA and Church. Our School Council allows the children to have a “voice” and become an integral part in the decision making process of the school.

The school enjoys a supportive but challenging Governing Body that ensures, with the Headteacher, that it maintains a sound financial position and is kept up to date on policy review and both government and local initiatives. Much time has been spent over the last couple of years in re-thinking and then embedding our new vision and values into the work of the School. We, as Governors, are very excited about the positive impact these are having on all at the School; the challenge and relevance that these bring are palpable.

Following their time with us, pupils go on to a wide range of secondary schools in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells or over the borders into Surrey and West Sussex, including Grammar Schools, Church Schools, All Inclusive Schools and private education.

Overall, Crockham Hill CE Primary School offers a rewarding position for a successful applicant and one with exciting challenge. We seek to not only maintain but raise standards of education, with creative, happy pupils and motivated, dedicated staff. Additionally, the post offers the opportunity for an ambitious professional to oversee the financial security, improvement and further development of a successful small village school.
