Harrietsham is a beautiful historic rural and industrial village situated between Maidstone and Ashford on the southern border of the North Downs. 

Harrietsham takes full advantage of being located on the lower slopes of the Downs, offering steep climbs up the slopes to a variety of walking routes such as the historic Pilgrims Way. You’ll be amazed with the exceptional scenic view and well known as some of the most outstanding parts of East Kent. 

Boasting a wealth of history and a longstanding settlement, archaeologists have uncovered evidence of Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman and Saxon activities in Harrietsham. With a public Interest in the long history of the public house that Harrietsham has to offer, this has led to many tales of highwaymen, smugglers and ghosts.

The village is bypassed by the A20 road between Maidstone and Ashford and has excellent transport links with the M20 close by. Harrietsham railway station serves the village, being just 0.5 miles and a ten minutes’ walk from Harrietsham CEP School with regular trains running through on the main train line.

You’ll have no problem travelling around the county or can even venture a short distance outside of Kent, with the high speed passing through the village and straight into the city of London. Even traveling further afield to the likes of Europe is an option with nearby international stations and the Dover ferry port.

There is so much to see and do right on your doorstep, with a range of shops and services, including several great traditional pubs, restaurants and attractions such as Leeds Castle and The Big Cat Sanctuary. 

Leeds Castle is open all year round and know to many as “The Loveliest Castle in the World”. Being just 1.5 miles and a short 5-minute drive from the school, the historic castle, dates back 900 years and is situated upon 500 acres of beautiful parkland and formal gardens with a circular maze consisting of 2,40 yew trees. With a variety of daily activities, tours, events and free flying falconry displays, Leeds Castle is situated in a breath-taking location offering an array of spectacular attractions all year-round. 

You won’t be short on places to visit, with Maidstone within such a close proximity, there is lots to see and do.  If you fancy a day of retail therapy, Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre is a 20-minute drive from the school and well known for its fantastic retail offer and wide variety of restaurants.
