Harrietsham Church of England Primary School (Voluntary Controlled) has been serving the children of the village community and surrounding area since the mid 1800s.

The current school site in West Street was opened in 2006 when the children of Harrietsham were able to move from the original Victorian site with its ‘freeze in winter’ and ‘boil in summer’ mobiles, to a brand new purpose built building that came with the added luxury of indoor toilets! It also boasted a new ICT Suite and Library. At the time the remit was to build like for like, so in 2006 there were 5 composite classes, plus a preschool area.

However, since that time, Harrietsham has grown, with plans for it to continue to do so. With the first wave of residential development it became very clear that the village school would not be big enough to accommodate the number of children that were likely to come with it. During 2013/2014 two new classrooms were added to the existing building. With this stage the school moved from composite to single year groups. Further expansion is pending.

With the original new build (2006) we were also lucky to be given an environmental area and green space for PE and Sports related Activities.

We consider ourselves lucky to have quite an extensive site, in a semi-rural setting, which provides an excellent backdrop to primary teaching and learning.
