Capel Primary School

About The School

Please read a welcome letter from our Chair of Governors.

Capel Primary School educates and inspires children to become successful and fulfilled lifelong learners. We aim to give our children an enriched and open-minded approach to life.

It is a popular village school serving the local communities of Capel, Five Oak Green and Tudeley, and enjoys a rural setting between the towns of Tunbridge Wells, Paddock Wood and Tonbridge.

With single form entry, the school offers places to children from age 4 through 11 within a catchment with socio economic diversity typical of the area.

Our school thrives on an ethos of mutual respect and support – and is a school where each child is encouraged to explore and grow - academically, artistically, physically and emotionally. We are a school who prides their self in having a real family feel where courtesy, kindness and good behaviour are paramount.

We are proud to take part in many charity events across the year. Recently our staff team, pupils and parents took part in a 24-hour cycle-athon keeping four bicycles on turbo trainers going continuously for 24 hours raising a considerable amount of money for Comic Relief.

Children at Capel Primary School enjoy a varied and enriching curriculum with plenty of extracurricular activities from art to sport to performing arts. We have recently held an art week where our children were able to experience clay modelling, weaving, papier mache, mosaic, stained glass windows and self-portraits all creating unique pieces of art to decorate our school. After the art week we held an art exhibition where parents were invited to come see and purchase the amazing work.

The Capel Primary Sports Day is an eagerly anticipate, all-day event, starting with our Capel Hakka, fun and competitive races for all sports, abilities and skills, finished off with an awards ceremony and crowning of the winning house. Each Christmas is celebrated with a show stopping Christmas production where parents and members of the local community are invited to come and see what amazing stars we have in our school.

Our annual Year 6 residential trip sees our children get the opportunity to experience rock climbing, raft building, kayaking and orienteering while building their own resilience and independence with three nights away from home.
