Thamesview School is situated in Gravesend in Northwest Kent. Due to its geographical location, Gravesend has played an important role throughout the maritime and communications history of the South East. Evidence of settlements in the area date as far back as the Stone Age and the town is referenced throughout history, most notably as the final resting place of Pocahontas.

Its close proximity to the River Thames and London means that this is an ideal town for commuters, being just 24 minutes from the city by High Speed train. The excellent transport links make it easy to get around the borough which boasts riverside, countryside, a busy town and quieter villages. The High Speed train service runs from Gravesend and Ebbsfleet International stations, the latter providing Eurostar services to the continent (e.g. Paris in two hours). A new Lower Thames Crossing is planned to the east of the town providing links to Essex, north of the Thames, and beyond.

Bluewater Shopping Centre
is close by providing retail therapy, a large cinema complex and many restaurants and cafes.  Glow events venue, which can be found at Bluewater, runs a programme of seasonal events throughout the year. Westfield Stratford City is about 15 minutes away by the High Speed train service from Gravesend (10 minutes from Ebbsfleet International). If you prefer more leisurely pursuits, there is plenty of countryside for you to explore or you can get your heart rate going at Cascades Leisure Centre.

Ebbsfleet Garden City will develop over the next 15 years as up to 15,000 homes are built, many of which are already built and occupied. Ebbsfleet Central - major new commercial centre - will become a magnet for new business, for education, research and development and for leisure and recreation. With a new city park alongside it, more than 30,000 new jobs could be created in 45,000m² of commercial space.

The London Resort – a proposed new £3.2 billion theme park attraction on the Swanscombe Peninsula between Gravesend and Dartford is an exciting prospect for development in the area.

The borough of Gravesham has plenty to offer both its residents and visitors, take a look at Visit Gravesend for more information.
