What people say...
We asked the children what they thought of their school:
What makes St Barnabas such a special school for you?
• Loving and caring teachers – Beckett
• We have fun after school clubs - especially football – Tom
• We learn from our mistakes – Thomas
• Education is fun at St B's – Charlie
What qualities would you like to see in your new Headteacher?
• To give us all the best future, brave and take risks – Eve
• Playing games and talking with us – Thomas
• To be able to have a joke with us, work as a team and never give up – Seraphina
• Forgiving, loving, generous and make things happen – Ruth
• Caring and look after children who are sad - Angela
We also asked parents for their thoughts on their school and the new Headteacher:
• The school is small and therefore the staff and pupils know each other.
• There is a sense of community within the school.
• All children have differing needs and the school seems to recognise and address those needs.
• Kindness and compassion coexist with good behaviour and discipline.
• There is a genuine "open door" policy within the school - from the Headteacher down, there is always the opportunity to have a discussion, often at short notice.
• There is a wide mix of children/families attending the school.
Finally we asked staff what they would like to see in their new Headteacher:
• Approachability, dedication, sense of humour, being able to look at things from various angles, nurturing, supportive of family life.
• We need someone who will continue to put the children’s happiness first and who will help them achieve the best work that they are capable of.
• Empathy, ability to walk in other people’s shoes, stand their ground and have the courage of their convictions, recognise the importance of counselling and therapy, have a child-centred approach, ‘open-door’ policy to their office, experience.
