Employment type: Full-time
Salary: £50,151 - £68,347
Close date: 3rd October 2022
Date of Interviews: 20th & 21st October 2022
Position start date: May 2023

Do you have a compelling vision for the future of education and strong leadership skills?

The Governors at Sissinghurst (Voluntary Aided) Church of England Primary School are seeking to appoint a forward-thinking team player to lead our wonderful school into its next phase of development. Our school is seeking a new leader who possesses a clear vision for what a truly outstanding, creative and holistic education can look like in 2023 and beyond, along with exceptional leadership skills to bring our whole staff, volunteer and parent community on board for the journey.

Sissinghurst Primary is a growing school, vibrant and happy from the front door to the playground. It currently serves 175 pupils with six class teachers, and mixed classes in KS2. The Governors are extremely proud of the school’s aspirational and nurturing culture which is heavily built on our Christian values of courage, forgiveness, service and kindness. Our new Headteacher would be expected to champion and embody these values in all areas of school life.

The national events of recent years brought both challenge and growth for our school community. We are proud to have a newly created Farm School offer to complement our Forest School, alongside the development of digital offers to support our pupils and parents. The new Headteacher would need to work as a strong team player to build on these achievements, and create a strong and stable environment from which to look to the future. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an outstanding professional with school leadership experience to take a step up into a Headship role for the first time, or for an existing school leader to take on a new challenge. Our governors are knowledgeable, experienced and committed to supporting our new Headteacher in fulfilling the school’s vision. The new leader will be supported by a highly capable office, as well as by a full time school business manager.

As a Voluntary Aided Church of England school, our Christian ethos underpins our vision, values, policies and approach to learning. The school has a strong relationship with Trinity Church in Sissinghurst and we are seeking an individual who can demonstrate a sincere understanding of the Christian faith and promote the holistic development of our pupils within this context. However, personal and regular church attendance is not a requirement.

In addition, the Governors are particularly looking to appoint a leader who;

  • demonstrates an internal drive and clarity of vision for what an outstanding education can and should look like, beyond Ofsted grade descriptors and fluctuations in national policy.
  • communicates clearly, resolves conflict effectively and is emotionally resilient under pressure.
  • leads by example, ensuring fair and transparent communication with all stakeholders.
  • can demonstrate strategic thinking about how to transform vision into practical action.
  • has a proven track record of making a positive and tangible impact on pupils’ learning in a leadership role.
  • is forward-thinking and has considered how technology and other innovations may impact on the education sector in the next decade, being willing to take risks and seize opportunities to continually develop the use of technology to enhance our teaching and learning provision.

We take our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children very seriously, and expect all staff and volunteers to do the same. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students. You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
