Information about the school

South Borough Primary School is currently a 1 form entry school in Maidstone. It became part of the Swale Academies Trust on 1st February 2015. In September 2015 the school will begin its journey to become a 2 form entry by taking 60 Reception children. There will be some building work in summer 2015 to accommodate the first process.

At South Borough Primary School we believe every child matters and is at the heart of all we do. We aim to ensure they can read, write and calculate effectively when they leave us. Together with that we aim to instill a sense of pride, tolerance, determination and perseverance to help them in all aspects of life. Good behaviour for learning is key for children to make good progress. We reward and practice this behaviour at school with visual behaviour ladders in all classes.

We are currently using “letters & sounds” to teach phonics in Nursery & Reception and KS1. Some KS2 children have specific provisions for phonics too. The school has purchased new resources in Maths, including Mathletics and Bug Club for reading. Each class is teaching the new curriculum 2014. We have purchased a new scheme of work for PE & Computing to link to the new curriculum.

We collaborate with other Trust schools, namely Westlands Primary School and Regis Manor Primary School to ensure best practice is shared. We value our parents and have an active Friends of South Borough (FOSB) who regularly meet and organise events/functions/activities for our children.

We are proud to offer a 5-day Breakfast Club and hope to set up a 5-day After Care Club from June 2015.

Our aim is to lead the school to ‘Outstanding’.
