Main Duties:

 

  1. To plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promotes each child’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs to enable them to reach their full potential following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
  2. To act as a key person for a group of children, by observing, monitoring and accurately recording each individual’s development. Liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring that each child’s needs are recognised and met.
  3. On a daily basis assist with setting up the Pre-School room and tidying away at the end of each session.
  4. To help children acquire self-help skills, including dressing, feeding, toilet training and an awareness of personal hygiene.
  5. To support with the transition to primary school.
  6. To communicate with parents/carers about the day to day needs of the children by fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills.
  7. To attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings and other events as required.
  8. To assist in the organisation of key groups and staff rotas, also ensuring that staff/child ratios are maintained at all times.
  9. To assist the Manager with the induction and support of staff in their roles.
  10. To deputise for the Manager in their absence.
  11. To offer support and mentoring to staff, students, trainees and volunteers, liaising with colleagues as required.
  12. To ensure that the Pre-School meets safety and hygiene requirements.
  13. To assist in ensuring that statutory requirements are met throughout the Pre-School.
  14. To keep up to date with developments in childcare and parent education through training as appropriate.
  15. To maintain records and documentation which comply with statutory requirements.
  16. To be aware of and respond to all our Policies and Procedures including Child Protection.
  17. To liaise with the Pre-School’s Management Committee as appropriate.
  18. To liaise with external agencies as appropriate.

 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a childcare setting

Qualifications: Approved Level 3 Qualification

Hours and days are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 08.30am-3pm

Salary is £10.50 an hour, £10972.50 a year including 20 additional hours.
