Cornwallis Academy is seeking an Attendance and Exams Assistant to provide an efficient administrative service 5 days per week, term time plus two weeks.  Working hours will be 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday and 8 am to 3.30 pm on Fridays.

Experience of working within an attendance role in a school environment would be highly desirable, with an emphasis on dealing with persistent absentees.  However, training can be provided.  The role will involve enforcement of penalty notices, improving attendance rates and reducing student absence.  

Main duties will include:

  • Recording whole school daily attendance
  • Maintaining attendance records
  • Contacting parents/carers when students are absent
  • Dealing with routine queries from students and liaising with staff where necessary
  • Answering telephones and forwarding queries appropriately
  • Updating and maintaining information/data in SIMS
  • Maintaining general attendance records
  • Managing records via data input, extraction, reporting and Mail merge

The successful candidate will have experience within an administrative environment including the use of advanced Microsoft Office skills.  You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work under pressure with a diverse workload and will be highly organised and motivated.  Working knowledge of SIMS is highly desirable and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.
