We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to join our team at Wateringbury CE Primary School. This is a term time only role for 15 hours a week: preferably, we are looking for someone for five afternoons (12:30 - 15:30) but this could be flexible. Originally the role will be in KS1 but there will be opportunities to work across the school.

All candidates will have a high standard of spoken and written English and mathematics. They will be good and effective communicators with children and adults, friendly and approachable and able to work on their own initiative.

We can offer you:

  • a strong team of teaching assistants to work with that are lead by an experienced SENCo.
  • CPD for your role
  • the opportunity to develop your own 'area of experise' to lead interventions across the school
  • the chance to take an active part in developing the school's nurture culture through a project with Nurture UK.

Covid friendly tours can be arranged, please call the office or email office@wateringbury.kent.sch.uk to find a mutually convenient time.

Information about the school

Wateringbury Church of England Primary School (Voluntary Aided) is situated in the Medway Valley between Tonbridge and Maidstone. On the edge of the village it overlooks fields and the river valley on one side. It is banked on the other by a modern residential development. For many of the children, school is a short walk or cycle ride from their homes. The children of the school meet each other beyond the school day in the sports clubs, uniformed groups, at church and in and around the village.

From our site adjoining the river and railway, our school has been serving the children of the village community and surrounding villages for more than 40 years. It is a vibrant and friendly school which is well supported by the local community.

Everything we do at Wateringbury is underpinned by our Christian values of Love, Peace, Wisdom, Forgiveness, Compassion and Justice. We enjoy strong links with St John the Baptist Church in Wateringbury and encourage children to take part in important community events such as Remembrance and St George’s Day as well as fundraising activities for local and international projects. Our developing curriculum is enhanced by a range of specialist-led clubs including judo, gymnastics, strings and drama as well as inspirational trips around the county to bring children’s learning to life.

In the summer we expanded our Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms to give the children more space to learn and room to grow. We have also invested in the refurbishment of our library, which sits at the heart of our school, and created a safe space (Rainbow Room). We are fortunate to have wonderful school grounds surrounded by trees. There are dedicated playgrounds for KS1 and KS2, a large sports field, pond, wildlife area, container gardens and a large wooden gazebo for further outdoor learning.
