New Line Learning Academy is an exciting school, which is rated Good by Ofsted in all areas. We are now expanding and looking to welcome a new inspirational Teaching Assistant who will work with students who have English as an additional language.

You will address the needs of children who require support with English as an additional language and who require support adapting to a new culture, so that they may access the curriculum and make excellent progress.

As well as working with students in the classroom learning environments, you will be required to:

  • carry out one-to-one/ small groups work with students to build literacy and language skills;
  • Work with KS4 students, focusing on academic language;
  • Support small groups in mainstream lessons;
  • Keep records updated (academic plans, progress, progress folders);
  • Adapt and create some resources.

Previous experience of working with children with English as an additional language would be an advantage and a Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work 1:1 with students: build literacy and language skills, improve vocabulary
  • Work with KS4 students: focus on GCSE, from a language point of view
  • Support small groups in mainstream lessons
  • Work with small groups
  • Keep records updated (academic plans, progress, progress folders)
  • Organise resources
  • Adapt some resources
