Headcorn Primary School is looking for an experienced Full Time / Part Time Teaching Assistant, ideally with experience of children with SLCN (Speech and Language and Communication Needs). Any relevant training such as NVQ3 qualification would be a significant advantage. English and Maths GCSE or equivalent is essential.

You will need to be an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our staff team. The successful applicant will be someone who loves to inspire and support our children and is a willing team player. You should be a highly efficient, flexible and reliable person. 

As a school we actively encourage the personal development and progression of staff. Recently this has included positions such as Nurture and Thrive Practitioners, Speech & Language, NVQ training, swimming instructors, progression to HLTA status and are interested in offering opportunities for development in other areas such as Outdoor Education.

We need someone who can work from 8.30am to 3.30pm for a full time position, Monday to Friday with half an hour lunch break. Part-time positions can be discussed according to the needs of the school. As part of the contract your hours will include one staff development day and nine 1.5 hour staff meetings after school, across the year (dates will be given in advance).

The start date for this position is January 2022.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • the school’s core values with both adults and children
  • effective communication with children, colleagues, parents and carers
  • ability to work on a one to one basis as well as taking the lead with small activities
  • ability to work in a supportive role within a classroom under the direction of the class teacher but also taking the lead in some aspects of school life
  • high standards in all areas of the role at all times
  • high expectations of children’s achievement and behaviour
  • flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude

Our school is set in the growing village of Headcorn and has completed its transition into a two-form entry primary school.
