We are seeking a cleaner to join the team at Lynsted and Norton Primary School in Sittingbourne, Kent. 

Previous commercial cleaning experience is desirable but not essential. You should have a good eye for detail, be flexible, able to work within set routines and live locally. 

The school is adhering to the Government Schools’ coronavirus (COVID-19) operational guidance and appropriate PPE is supplied.

Duties include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning of surfaces, emptying bins etc. of reception areas, corridors, classrooms, offices, library areas, IT areas, toilets, staffroom, school hall and the central team offices to a high standard. 

Benefits include:

  • £9.03 per hour/£390 gross paid monthly (including holiday pay). Pay review pending from 1/9/21.

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 3.30pm to 5.30pm term time and Friday 3.30pm to 6.00pm. There is also the requirement to work for further weeks during holiday time, consolidating your hours into one week during the Easter holidays and two weeks during summer holidays to deep clean the school (a total of 43 working weeks). The annual salary is £4691 (including holiday pay) pro rata for £17431 of a full-time equivalent post. 

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and other safer recruitment checks because you will be working in education and will come into contact with children. You must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
