We are looking for an enthusiastic and fun but firm Afterschool Club Assistant to join our very supportive team. The position is term time only time (9 hours Wednesday to Friday, 3pm to 6pm), who

  • can be confidential
  • has experience with children aged 4 to 7
  • can relate well to a variety of situations
  • can use their initiative and own judgement, but knows when it is appropriate to ask for advice
  • is friendly, fun-loving, enthusiastic and kind
  • has good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • can share their own interests with children, eg gardening, sport, etc
  • is prepared to give and take
  • is able to work as part of a team
  • has high expectations and standards, eg behaviour, tidying by children
  • uses common sense
  • is sensitive to children (others) and their needs; can be intuitive - can 'read' a person or situation
  • has a consistent approach
  • is committed and conscientious
  • is prepared to continue learning and training
  • is open and receptive to new ideas
  • is free at the end of the school day for three hours!

Applications from those who have knowledge and experience of working with young children would be desirable but not essential. You need the ability to work independently and use your initiative following the guidelines set by the Afterschool Club Supervisor and Headteacher.
