About the role: Horsmonden Primary Academy has an opportunity for a passionate and experienced EYFS Class Teacher to join us from September 2021. Our appointed candidate’s main focus will be to maintain our strong practice in EYFS. We work together to achieve excellence for all, creating confident, resilient children. The Academy continues to go from strength to strength and it is a fantastic time to join us on our journey. Our children will benefit hugely from an energetic, highly motivated, solution-driven and forward-thinking teacher who places them at the centre of school life, with high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour, ensuring every child achieves their full potential.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to make a full contribution to their Key Stage, curriculum development and staff teams. We welcome applications from experienced teachers. In return, we will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop their career.

The role is offered on a fixed term basis as maternity cover, with a salary commensurate with experience (Main Pay Scale).

What we will expect of you: We will expect you to successfully plan and deliver outstanding lessons on a daily basis that significantly advance each childs’ development. We anticipate you will achieve this by being organised, caring and enthusiastic in everything you do.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will also be expected to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You will also be expected to undertake regular self development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

We want you to be passionate in your pursuit of progress for each and every one of your children so that they can achieve the progress they deserve and grow into young adults that will go on to be successful students at secondary school. Each and every member of staff, regardless of their position or seniority, is expected to participate in the overall running of the school and to act as a positive role model for our students. In and out of the classroom you will encourage and promote positive behaviour and effectively manage any situation that threatens to impact on the progress of other students.

Information about the school

Here at Horsmonden Primary Academy, our aim is to encourage lifelong learning and develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring individuals that understand the world around them while demonstrating respect. It is important to us all that Horsmonden children are prepared for life outside Horsmonden and that journey starts the minute they walk through our doors.

As a member of staff at Horsmonden you will benefit from working with a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable team. We are all proud to work here and firmly believe in every child achieving their best through providing inspiring, motivating and exciting learning opportunities.

Our curriculum is framed by the Primary Years Programme, from the International Baccalaureate and we strongly believe in the 10 learner profile attributes. They represent the capacities and responsibilities for intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. Together, staff and children are: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk takers, balanced and reflective.

The school was founded in 1853 and we have been at the heart of the community ever since. We are proud to have an active, supportive parent body and excellent links with the local community enabling us to work closely together, providing the best experiences for the children of Horsmonden.

We were awarded with a 'Good' rating by Ofsted in their 2016 inspection - 'The effective headteacher has united the staff team. Everyone at Horsmonden now works towards the same set of shared values in order to achieve the very best for pupils.'

Vision and values: At Horsmonden we have developed a friendly, caring and thoughtful atmosphere that has evolved through the use of the words “Happiness, Kindness, Success”. This motto is integral to our school history and ethos. As we move towards becoming an IB school, these words have helped shape our vision for the future.

At Horsmonden Primary Academy our aim is to encourage lifelong learning and develop inquiring, knowledgeable caring individuals that understand the world around them while demonstrating respect.

"It is important to us all that Horsmonden children are prepared for life outside Horsmonden and that journey starts the minute they walk through our doors. I feel extremely privileged to be Principal at Horsmonden Primary Academy and to work with such a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable staff team. We are all proud to work here and firmly believe in every child achieving their best through providing inspiring, motivating and exciting learning opportunities." - Principal Hayley Sharp
