Are you our next SENCO?

Do you have a passion for inclusive education?

Are you looking for a new challenge?

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a SENCO to join Holy Trinity and St John’s CEP School in Margate. We have a large staff team to support the inclusive practices that are well established across the school. This includes a large pastoral team and Nurture provision.

We are looking to appoint an excellent, efficient, caring, creative and enthusiastic SENCO who will work as part of our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a part time (0.8) role - days and times to be negotiated. The SENCO is expected to attend SLT meetings and Professional Development Meetings that are held after school as well as having a small teaching commitment.

We are looking for an individual who can provide a strategic and operational oversight of provision for those pupils with SEND.  You will be supported by the Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion). We expect you to ensure effective, efficient and clear communication to parents, pupils and staff in addition to liaising with outside agencies.  A passion to work alongside our experienced staff team in the classrooms is essential. We will expect you to promote an inclusive culture enabling all children to achieve their best, overcoming barriers to learning and participation.  Whilst it is desirable to have existing SENCO experience, applications from experienced teachers, who are willing to undertake the SENCO qualification are welcome.

During the 2021 – 2022 academic year we will be opening a 16 place Specialist Resource Provision for ASC children. This will be overseen by the Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion) and run by the SRP Lead Teacher (who is already in post). This is an exciting opportunity for the SENCO to work with the Deputy, SRP Lead Teacher, SRP staff and wider school staff to further develop our excellent inclusive practices across the school.

Visits to see our school are encouraged. Please contact the school office to arrange a tour with either the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion).

Information about the school

Holy Trinity & St. John’s CEP School is a large primary school serving the central area of the coastal town of Margate. Current number on role is 420 children aged between 4 – 11 years.

The size of the school offers many advantages as we are able to offer a wide range of learning opportunities and have a number of specialist teachers in our employment. However, there remains a sense of family within the school community which is reinforced by our House System and close links with our parents/carers and PTFA.

As a Church of England school, we enjoy strong links with the Parish Church of St. John’s and the Diocese of Canterbury. At Holy Trinity, the Christian ethos of the school goes far beyond the RE curriculum. In work and play children are given the opportunity to find out about the beliefs and values of other people.

Our overriding message that permeates through the school is “Treat others the way you wish to be treated”. As a result, we are a happy and safe school, where children and adults genuinely take great care of each other. Holy Trinity is however more than a place of community and friendship. We strive for high standards of behaviour and academic achievement for all children. We encourage initiative and equip our children with a confidence to enable them to feel positive about themselves.

We were graded as a Good school by Ofsted in March 2023. Our extended school provisions offer our pupils a wealth of opportunities to not only continue their learning but to develop important social skills. Some evidence of our extended school provision can be seen from our achievement in being awarded the Artsmark Gold and School Games Bronze Award.

Holy Trinity & St John's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS checks are required for this post.
