The Galaxy Trust is currently a family of 4 primary academies, serving a diverse community within Dartford, Kent.

The Galaxy Trust is taking the exciting step of bringing our catering service in house, and we are currently recruiting for a Chef Manager to join our team at Oakfield Primary Academy.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, and liaising daily with Business Managers and Headteachers, you will be responsible for the day to day running of a school kitchen, cooking and serving fresh food and managing a dedicated catering team.  Your working week will normally average 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday - however, occasionally you may be asked to work outside of these hours. This role is 40 weeks per year (term time plus 2 weeks), and the salary is Kent Range 7, £23,151 full time equivalent, actual pay £20,423 pro rata.

You will need excellent and proven culinary skills, be able to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and have the drive and passion to lead the team in our goal of providing an excellent catering service that is accessible to all our pupils and staff.

Experience of working in an educational environment is desirable, but not essential, however the successful applicant will need experience of running a kitchen in a Head Chef or Unit Manager role.

NVQ or other vocational qualification in catering and food production is also desirable, but not essential.

Applicants will need a basic level of IT literacy to be able to effectively use our online ordering and due diligence systems.
