The ethos of Sandling School is to: work together, achieve together and have fun together; this is true of the whole school community.

We currently have 11% of pupils who are on the SEN register and our last OFSTED inspection February 2020 recognised that “Leaders want all pupils to achieve well, especially disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff think carefully about how to meet each individual pupil’s needs. Staff change activities to help these pupils learn alongside their classmates. As a result, disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND are successful in their learning and play a full part in the life of the school.”

We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our highly committed team as SENCo. We are looking for an inspirational person to further develop and lead inclusion and SEN within our school.

If you have been teaching at least five years, have a good knowledge of Special Needs provision and want to support other staff in maintaining and developing high quality provision for our SEND pupils, then we want to hear from you.

This full time role also comes with 3 days teaching commitment, initially in KS2, as we believe it is important that our SENCo can model the strategies they are advising and view provision within the classroom setting.  There is a very experienced, full time SEN Assistant / Nurture Lead who assists the SENCo with pupil assessments, liaison with outside agencies and many other administrative tasks as well as leading on nurture provision within the school.  As SENCo, you will also be part of our Senior Leadership Team to help shape the continual cycle of monitoring and improvement.

We can offer you:

  • a supportive staff team including an SEN Assistant
  • effective induction
  • continuing professional development
  • polite, motivated, enthusiastic and well behaved children
  • a well-resourced school
  • an ethos of no ceiling on what children can achieve
  • a strong governing body.
  • SENCo allowance (rate commensurate with experience)

We welcome visits to our school to find out more about us.  Please see the attached documents for available slots to book.

Please note Sandling Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments will be subject to safer recruitment procedures.
