An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at Horsted School, Chatham. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and is committed to raising the standards of children with SEND and help support them in their learning. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver focussed intervention for vulnerable learners; plan for, resource and deliver high quality learning.

The post is term time only, 19.50 hours a week, which will be four mornings a week and one full day (to include planning and preparation time). Pay is on NJC salary scale C2 points 12-25 part time pro rata  depending on experience.  Previous experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.

The initial contract is fixed term and will have an end date of 22nd July 2022

Essential qualities & skills:

  • An individual who has the ability to enthuse and motivate children
  • A commitment to the highest standards of learning
  • Relevant and recent experience of working in a school, preferably in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • An ability to communicate, work as part of a successful team, take on board advice, use their initiative and meet deadlines
  • An individual who is organised, efficient and flexible in their approach
  • A good level of English, maths (at least NVQ level 2 or Grade C GCSE/ O' level) and a willingness to further professional development 
  • Proficiency in the use of ICT  
  • Experience in adapting and differentiating  learning experiences to cater for individual needs and how to plan for and celebrate small steps of progress.
  • Ideally a good understanding phonetical and language develoment
  • Understanding of various needs including ASC, ADHD, MLD and Dsylexia (not essential but preferred)

This role will have a significant impact on improving the outcomes for these pupils with SEND and therefore be incredibly rewarding for someone dedicated to the role
