We are keen to hear from candidates who are willing to commit some of their expertise, skills, time and enthusiasm to being the Chair of Folkestone Academy local governing committee. We are looking for a confident Chair with a good track record of School improvement. We welcome people from diverse backgrounds and educational settings and employment. 
 
 We are looking for someone who is able to:
  • chair effective meetings
  • be a critical friend to school leaders 
  • challenge leaders so school improvement plans are robust and assured
  • participate in the life of the school 
  • enjoy the role
We have a committed team of local governors who are focused on driving improvement and passionate about realising our values 'transforming children’s futures, empowering families and strengthening communities'.
 
We offer training, support and regular communication. We can facilitate a handover for candidates joining in this academic year. 
 
In order to support our committee members in balancing their own commitments with those of being a governor, meeting dates are organised one year in advance and papers are shared electronically one week in advance of meetings. An experienced Governance Officer coordinates and minutes the meetings and is available to provide effective guidance and support every step of the way.
