Portal House wishes to appoint an outstanding KS3/4 teacher with a real enthusiasm for Resistant Materials. Good subject knowledge, qualifications and skills to provide creative and engaging teaching are essential. The ability to teach some Art could be an advantage.

 

This is an examination subject. Previous years achieved good grades at GCSE. Currently we use the AQA Art, Craft and Design GCSE Specification.

 

Applications are welcome from both experienced SEN teachers and those who are considering a move to this challenging but incredibly rewarding area of education.

 

We have new, fit for purpose facilities and visits to the school are most welcome.

Information about the school

All 80 students on roll have an EHC plan with SEMH or ASD as their main SEN need. Most have additional associated diagnosed and undiagnosed needs. All have a broadly average cognitive profile with behaviour presenting as the biggest barrier to accessing education.

It is essential that have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs associated with student who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and or Autism and experience of working successfully with other agencies to help these children achieve positive outcomes. A high proportion of our children are eligible for pupil premium.
