SCHOOL GOVERNORS

TKAT East School Local Governing Committees.

Vacancies have become available for committed volunteers to join one of our School Local Governing Committees at five Thanet primary schools: Dame Janet (Ramsgate), Drapers Mills (Margate), Newlands (Ramsgate), Northdown (Margate) and Salmestone (Margate). The five schools are part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT). Each SLGC comprises a number of appointed governors, staff governors and parent governors plus the headteacher.

The SLGCs meet four times a year in September, December, March and June. Agenda items include the Headteacher’s report; Progress and Attainment; Curriculum; Finance; Safeguarding; SEND; Health and Safety; Attendance and Behaviour. Each governor monitors one element of the School Development Plan.

If you are interested in offering your time and interest in the education of young people, please contact me on roger.silk@dmpa-tkat.org and I will arrange a meeting to discuss our work and for you to ask any questions that you will undoubtedly have about the role.

Roger Silk (Chair of the Governing Bodies of the TKAT East primary schools)

Information about the school

'Readers for life, leaders in life.'

Welcome to Dame Janet - a family school, in the heart of Ramsgate.

Inspired by the children of Ramsgate we are a school on two sites, with a thriving forest school and other outdoor learning opportunities. Dame Janet is a GOOD school really worth finding out more about. Our vision is for every child to develop the skill and the will to become life long readers. Children enjoy a challenging but fun curriculum that prepares them well for their futures. From their earliest days to their last in Year Six, the children make good progress and immerse themselves in our rich curriculum. Children have travelled through time, explored the wonders of the ancient world and fought off monsters; using a range of technology and experiencing learning in different environments. Our provision and our focus on personal development and welfare is outstanding. The whole school is passionately committed to giving pupils a wide range of real-life and enriching experiences and through these the children have gone off to the secondary school of their choice prepared and ready to grow and keep learning.

If you would like to find out more about the school and its work, then please visit or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
