We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with Specialist SEND experience of working with pupils in Primary and Secondary to join us from 19th April 2021. This post is for 30.5/31 hours per week, Kent Range 3 (£18,039 FTE) + SEN allowance (pro-rata), term-time. The postholder is required to work for 39 weeks per year. In addition, the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day. Initially, this is a Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2022, subject to review at the end of this period.

Candidates should possess at least an NVQ level 2 in supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent along with GCSE grades A to C in Mathematics and English and we also welcome enthusiastic graduates who are considering a career in teaching and who have a minimum of a 2:2 degree, preferably in Mathematics, Science or English.Verification of qualifications will be required prior to employment commencing and you will be required to produce the original certificate. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are welcome to apply but experience of Special Educational Needs is paramount to applying for this post.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for working with children with SEND. This role can be challenging but also incredibly rewarding therefore the ideal candidate must possess patience and resilience. Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and be committed to working as part of an established and highly motivated team to provide stimulating and interesting learning opportunities for pupils with a range of profound, severe and complex needs, alongside supporting them with personal care.  Multi-lingual skills and the ability to offer support to pupils with English as an Additional Language and specific skills and / or qualifications in swimming and minibus driving would also be an advantage.

We offer a comprehensive and supportive CPD programme and opportunities to apply for a School Direct placement leading to Qualified Teacher Status.
