Do you want to make a real difference to a child’s life?

A unique opportunity has arisen at Saltwood Church of England Primary School. We are seeking to appoint a special person who is keen to work with children on a 1:1 basis. To succeed in this role you will need the following:

  • A desire to give support to an individual child so that they may thrive at school and fulfil their potential in life.
  • The ability to understand and improve challenging behaviour.
  • The adaptability to recognise and respond to a child’s needs as they change throughout the day.
  • A desire to help facilitate a positive transition to secondary education.
  • A good sense of humour and the ability to make learning fun.
  • The willingness to be part of a supportive team, working in the best interests of all the children in our school.

An understanding of ADHD and ASD in relation to behaviour needs will be necessary, as will an NVQ at Level 2 or above. Experience of Forest School or outdoor learning would be an advantage. You will need to show how you set high expectations and help children achieve them.

This posts is based in Key Stage Two for 20 hours per week over 5 days. If you have skills that might be specific to this age group please make this clear in your application. The position will be established under a temporary contract until August 2022 due to the nature of the High Needs Funding the school receives.

You will be working closely with the class teachers, our excellent SENCO and parents to plan and deliver intensive support to a child who can be reluctant to learn from time to time but who will repay your hard work and dedication by sharing their learning journey with you.

Covid secure visits to the school can be arranged. Please email enquiries@saltwood.kent.sch.uk to make an appointment.
