The Governors of St Michael’s Primary School would like to appoint a dynamic, innovative, inspirational and visionary SENCO. The post would suit someone who demonstrates passion, commitment and the desire to make ‘a real difference’.  The SEnco will take on the responsibility for the day-to-day operation for the provision made by the school for pupils with SEND, they will support and enable a very close knit and hardworking teaching team to enable all SEN children to achieve their full potential. The SEnco will build upon the strong relationships the school has with all parents especially those parents of children with SEN and will have the expertise to guide them and advise them in the best educational provision for their children offered at the school.

The successful candidate will have

 

  • Qualified Teaching status with at least 3 years’ experience
  • Experience of working with children with Special Needs
  • A Thorough knowledge of the new SEND Code of Practice
  • The ability to lead staff and provide professional guidance in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children to secure high quality teaching and learning
  • Be skilful in working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, EAL, G & T
  • Ability to work effectively with the Headteacher, SLT, and Governors to achieve excellence, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met to bring about high standards for all pupils.
  • The ability to support and overview the work of teaching assistants working with SEN children
  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching and effective management skills along with highly developed and sensitive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good management and organisational skills and experience of leading/managing other staff
  • The necessary communication skills enabling liaison with a variety of external agencies
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents, carers, external agencies and the community.

This is a permanent part time position of at least 3 days per week with a possibility of moving to 4 days.
