We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking colleague with energy, intellectual capacity and determination to support the leadership our successful English Department and make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people.  This position is fixed term, linked to maternity leave, for up to one year. 

The successful applicant will be an experienced Teacher with specialist knowledge of English and be committed to on-going professional development.   With a positive attitude and resilient nature, you will have demonstrable experience taking the lead on specific projects and proven strategies for ensuring highly motivated and high achieving students reach their full potential.  As Deputy Subject Leader you will assist the Subject Leader in leading a team of 5 accomplished professionals with the support of a dedicated member of our Senior Leadership Team. 

The award-winning English department at Chatham Grammar achieve excellent results and our UKAT A Level courses are extremely popular.  The department are keen enthusiasts for extra-curricular activities and encourage students to write as a passion and to see how English can inform their everyday life.  In less restrictive times the department offer a wide variety of trips the annual A Christmas Carol movie night being one example   

The department benefit from the Trust’s links with the University of Kent and many students work has been published in anthologies.   The friendly, welcoming and experienced English department have worked hard over the last few year to improve and enjoy very positive outcomes but are always striving for even greater heights.
