 About the School

Medway Green School is a brand new SEN provision in Wouldham Kent. The school, when full, will facilitate up to 46 pupils aged 5-14 with a wide range of behavioural, social and emotional needs including ASC. The school site is currently going through significant refurbishment and phase 2 is on schedule to completed by September 2020.

About the Role

The position of Wellbeing worker is crucial to the development of the school as we grow our small but effective team.  The main purpose of this post is to provide support to students who are not able to access the learning taking place in the classroom at any given time during the school day with a view to reintegrating as soon as safely possible.  The successful candidate will provide support to classroom based staff by providing time out, extra intervention, updating and completion of Wellbeing plans and risk assessments and general communication and guidance in managing mood and behavior.  Daily duties will include car park duty, break and lunch duty, radio call outs, communication with parents, carers and other stake holders as well as record keeping to name but a few.  This is a varied and rewarding role with no two days being the same.

 Who we are looking for

We are looking for an emotionally resilient person who can apply school policy and be empathetic at the same time.  The successful candidate will be someone that students can trust and relate to.  They will also have considerable experience of working in a school with children presenting challenging behaviour and be comfortable communicating with parents and carers as well as accurate record keeping on.

 Essential Criteria

  • At least 3 years working in a school where children have challenging behaviours.
  • Proven ability to be a strong communicator with all stakeholders.
  • Approachable and honest; good sense of humour is essential.
  • A desire to develop professionally and personally.
  • A commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for young people.
  • Experience of Team Teach or similar behaviour management including physical restraint.
