Advert

We are looking for a Teacher of the Deaf, as soon as possible, to join our Resource Provision at Castle Hill. You must either be already qualified, or willing to take on the training programme which will be fully funded. Knowledge / qualification in British Sign Language is also essential. A successful candidate will be joining a team of three teachers and seven communicators in our provision for Hearing Impaired children which caters for up to 15 children throughout the primary age phase.

You must, above all, be an excellent teacher with a strong background in working with SEN pupils. All our Hearing Impaired children are taught in a mixture of small specialist groups (alongside other SEN children), within the mainstream classes and on a one to one basis. All children are taught using Sign Supported English, which is a mixture of verbal communication and BSL.  The need to be highly flexible and to adapt work to provide individualised learning is vital in order to respond to the varied needs of our children.

The provision is an extremely important part of our school and the Teachers of the Deaf are the flagbearers for it. You need to be willing to work with class teachers and support staff to provide the children with the best possible educational experience. You would also be expected to liaise with numerous outside agencies when supporting their learning.

If this position sounds ideal. Then we would love to hear from you and discuss the post in more detail, including any training requirements that you may have. This post comes with at least one SEN point (starting at £2,270 per year) and increases once qualified.
