Advert

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery currently has a vacancy for an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced class teacher to lead our new Specialist Resource Provision for children with Autism (ASC). This is a fantastic opportunity for a practitioner with SEND expertise to use their skills, vision and drive to develop a brand new learning environment in which children with Autism can thrive and reach their potential.

Our SRP is due to open to pupils in September 2021 and will be a purpose-built new classroom to support up to 16 children with Autism. The lead teacher will commence employment in April 2021 to work alongside the SLT and SENDCo in developing resources, the curriculum and shaping not only the physical layout of the unit but also the ethos and aspirations of the SRP ready for the first pupils in September. The successful candidate will work with the SLT to develop a clear vision to support children with Autism within our school.

The pupils in the SRP will need high-quality individualised support and a successful transition programme. We require a commitment to delivering an outstanding level of Teaching and Learning and a rich and enjoyable curriculum.

At Garlinge we pride ourselves on our inclusivity and the SRP will be a valued and integrated part of our mainstream provision. As such the lead teacher will also support colleagues through the school with Autism training and resources.

If you would like to visit our school please email the HR Officer on ashbyc@garlinge.kent.sch.uk to make an appointment for a tour of our large site. The tour will be conducted by a member of the SLT with full adherence to social distancing guidelines.

Our school website also features a comprehensive video tour of the school which gives a fantastic representation of a typical day at Garlinge plus a wealth of information relating to policies, values and standards.

To apply, please complete the online application form. Please do not attach a CV as all necessary information should be provided in your application form.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 9 February and Wednesday 10 February with a panel comprising members of the SLT and the SENDCo. You will also be required to deliver an activity to a group of children designed to develop their social skills, provide a film or photograph of your successful learning environment, answer questions from some of our children and deliver a short presentation to the interview panel before the formal interview itself.

Our Safeguarding Policy can be found on the school website. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for children.
