Information about the school

Folkestone Primary is a forward-thinking school, committed to enabling children to acquire fundamental literacy and maths skills, while developing individual strengths and talents. We are determined that every child in our school is happy and successful, through providing high standards of academic learning opportunities and pastoral care.

As an inclusive, caring school where every child matters, we recognise that all children have talents and abilities to enjoy, and a part of our role is to help them discover and develop these. We encourage a strong community spirit, where we show consideration for each other, understand differences, and uphold kind, well-mannered behaviour.

The learning community of Folkestone Primary has a vision to ensure our school has an atmosphere of purpose and to be alive with learning. It is a place where the confidence and self-esteem of our children is key, where they are excited by learning and develop an understanding of themselves as learners. We are a caring community with a committed team who role model high expectations of learning and behaviour: children come to our school to be happy and successful.

Folkestone Primary is part of Turner Schools Trust based in Folkestone. We are a two form entry school but have chosen to organise children into smaller classes, recognising the many benefits for both children and members of staff.

Turner Schools is committed to ensuring success without selection for our pupils and students by teaching them the core knowledge and life skills they need to thrive in the modern world. Our mission is to set a new standard in non-selective education, empowering our pupils and students with cultural capital. In this way we will contribute to the regeneration of the region; we call this mission ‘sea-change’.

Our schools include: Folkestone Academy; Folkestone Primary; Morehall Primary; Martello Primary; and Turner Free School.

Turner Schools is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. It expects all staff and volunteers to share this same commitment. Any appointment is subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Two references are required prior to commencement of employment.
