Teaching Assistant

We wish to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. We are looking for a TA who has adaptability, experience in learning support and above all, someone who shares our ethos of putting the children at the centre of all we do. 

The successful applicant will be sensitive to children's varying needs and be able to work under the guidance of the teaching team, SENCo and Leadership Team. 

The successful candidate will: 

• have a good understanding of children's needs, both pastoral and educational
• have excellent levels of literacy and numeracy
• have excellent communication skills
• have the highest expectations of children’s behaviour
• have a strong empathy with children’s diverse needs
• have good initiative and be flexible
• have experience of supporting children in a learning environment
• be able to liaise with the class teacher, providing feedback and keeping records of progress and behaviour as required
• support the social, emotional, behavioural and medical needs of pupils as necessary
• prepare resources and undertake administrative tasks
• display children's work creatively
• work as part of the team with a sense of humour and a sense of fun

The responsibilities will include:

• supporting the learning of groups and individuals
• delivery of interventions, as directed by the class teacher
• supervision of pupils at break times
• run an after-school club once a week
• occasional supervision of the class

A significant part of the role is to take an active role in school life. At interview, candidates will be asked what they can bring to the school that will have a positive impact on the children of Palm Bay Primary School.

The successful candidate will be expected to work five days a week, 8.45am to 3.30pm, with a 4.30 finish time on one day (to lead a weekly after school club). This is 30 hours per week over 38 weeks per year.
