AFTERSCHOOL CLUB ASSISTANT (LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER'S CLUB)

A vacancy has arisen for an Afterschool Club Assistant in our Lighthouse Keeper’s Club and we are looking for somebody who can support our fabulous team in looking after the children, after school.  We are looking for somebody with boundless enthusiasm and positivity and can contribute to making sure the time that our children spend at Lighthouse Keeper’s Club, is thoroughly enjoyable and happy.   If you have a creative flair and don’t mind being outside, whatever the weather, would be a bonus too!  The role is initially temporary, but due to the future expansion of the school, may be continued for the right candidate which will be reviewed in Term 6 (July 2021).

The position is for 9 hours a week; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during term time only.  The hours are every afternoon between 3.00pm and 6.00pm and the flexibility to work some mornings and cover absence may also be required.  The tasks of this role will be varied and could change, but will include supervising children and preparing activities, preparing food and cleaning duties.

Ideally, in applying for this post you will have:

  • A thorough understanding of all safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • A positive outlook at all times and the ability to make learning and work fun
  • Good literacy and mathematical skills
  • High standards of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High standards of personal presentation, punctuality, attendance and professional standards and team work
  • The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to ‘think on your feet’
  • Awareness of food preparation in a school setting
  • Ability to lead and supervise activities for children

Information about the school

We are a Church of England Aided Junior school, situated in the heart of Whitstable. From September 2021 our school embarked on an expansion to admit 60 children into Year 3, growing to a two form entry school from September 2022 with a total of eight classes. Locally we are known as 'The Endowed' and we describe ourselves as an old school with a young heart.
